The place

The character of St. George Island

St. George Island is a twenty-two mile barrier island with a lighthouse at its center, nine miles of undeveloped state park beach at its east end, and Apalachicola Bay at its back. It is big-house country: broad porches, private pools, and floor plans built for three generations at once.

That scale shapes the rental market. The Plantation holds the premium book behind its west-end gate, the East End rents to guests who want the state park and little else, and the mid-island grid puts restaurants and the lighthouse within a bike ride. Weekly bookings from large family groups anchor a season that runs long on both ends.
